Kejia Hu is an Associate Professor of Management Science at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford.

Previously, she worked at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management and obtained her PhD in Operations Management from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Research

Kejia focuses on unlocking business value from data. Through years of research and hands-on collaboration with industrial leaders, she has developed a four-step approach, DEFI (Data-Exploration-Finding-Insights), which is both validated in practice and supported by research.

Her research has been recognised with several Best Paper Awards at INFORMS, POMS and MSOM. Her case Jointown Pharmaceutical Group is named one of the Top 100 MBA Case Studies in China. She is also recognised with the 'Rising Star Award' in 2023 QUIS, which honours early-career scholars making impactful contributions in the services research discipline.

Engagement

Kejia currently serves on the editorial review board for two Flagship journals in operations management, the Journal of operations Management and Production and Operations Management. She also serves at the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures, on the board of POMS College of Service Operations and the board of INFORMS Service Science section. 

She also closely works with industrial partners. She has solid research partnerships with firms in service industries, such as online marketplaces, hospitality and healthcare providers, and manufacturing industries, such as automakers and high-techs, with many of them being industrial pioneers or Fortune 500 companies.

Teaching

She was named one of the '40 Under 40 Best MBA Professors' by Poets & Quants in 2023. She teaches:
